The Mission
The Miami-Dade Military Museum and Memorial is dedicated to preserving the rich military heritage of South Florida for all its diverse community.
We honor all branches of the US Armed Forces, as well as its clandestine services.

The History
The Miami-Dade Military Museum and Memorial is located on the grounds of the WWII Naval Air Station Richmond, which was the southernmost blimp base in the country.
We display artifacts from South Florida veterans who participated in many theaters of operation from WWII to the present day.
We especially recognize the service, the sacrifice, and the accomplishments of the active military, veterans, families and supporters of this great community.

Highlights
In the name of the French Republic, Consul general, Raphaël Trapp, will recognize U.S. Veteran, Raymond Surette, SGT, Army Air Corps, who participated in the Liberation of France during World War II.
Raymond Surette will receive the insignia of Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur (Knight in the Legion of Honor) on Monday, May 8th, 2023 at 10:30 am at the Miami-Dade Military Museum and Memorial.

Join us Saturday, February 11, 2023 at the Museum for a screening of Bridge of Spies with live commentary from Francis Gary Powers Jr.
Inspired by real events, Bridge of Spies follows James B. Donovan as he negotiates the release of Francis Gary Powers in exchange for Soviet KGB spy Rudolf Abel. Powers was captured by Soviet forces after his U-2 spy plane was shot down over the Soviet Union in 1960.

The Miami-Dade Military Museum and Memorial is honored to be donating a library set of military history books to each of the 27 Miami-Dade County Public Schools JROTC Programs.
United States military history curriculum allows educators to reach high school student’s interests, encourage career and citizenship skills, understand our country’s military history, as well as fulfill a variety of social studies standard requirements. Learning about military history helps students become engaged and thoughtful citizens by expanding their knowledge base, developing vital critical thinking and decision-making skills, and enhancing their understanding of the United States’ and others’ cultures. Studying military history identifies models of self-discipline, bravery, and intellectual curiosity through the stories of those who have served.

The Miami-Dade Military Museum hosted the Army Reserve 7217th Medical Support Unit for orientation. The Army Reserve 7217th Medical Support Unit served in our historic building from 1975 to 1985 as the 324th MASH.

Cadet Lee, pictured above, is one of our own NAS Richmond Sea Cadets. He has been selected to attend the rigorous and rewarding Naval Academy Preparatory School this summer. Next summer will be his plebe summer.
The Miami-Dade Military Museum celebrated its Grand Opening on Veterans Day 2023, with grateful hearts, honoring those who served, surrounded by incredible people who made it all possible.
